Two species of birds stand out for their unique characteristics and behaviors, they are chickens and eagles. While chickens are often associated with backyard farms and coops, eagles soar high in the skies, reigning supreme as apex predators. Here we explore the differences between hanging out with chickens versus eagles.

I grew up on a farm, and taking care of our chickens was one of my domestic duties at home as a kid. Chickens are known as the Social Butterflies, and hanging out with them can be a delightful experience. These social birds thrive on interaction and will often follow you around the yard, clucking and chirping.

They can become quite tame and enjoy human interaction. They’ll happily perch on your lap or snuggle up against you. They are naturally curious creatures, often exploring their surroundings and investigating new sights and sounds. Watching chickens roam and play can be quite entertaining, especially when they chase each other around the yard. Chickens are omnivores, eating a variety of foods including grains, fruits, vegetables, and insects. Chickens are domesticated and often rely on humans for food. They are social birds that live in groups, called flocks, with a pecking order, nesting on the ground or in nesting boxes, laying eggs that are incubated for about 21 days.

In contrast, hanging out with eagles is a vastly different experience. They are powerful birds of prey commanding respect and awe. They are majestic hunters, and exude a sense of majesty and power, with their impressive wingspans and sharp talons. Unlike chickens, eagles are not social birds and prefer to keep to themselves. They may tolerate human presence, but they won’t seek out interaction. Eagles are apex predators, and their sharp eyesight and powerful talons make them formidable hunters. Eagles primarily feed on meat, including fish, small mammals, and other birds. Eagles are skilled hunters, and they build large nests, called eyries, on trees or cliff faces, and often mate for life.

In reality, hanging out with chickens and eagles offers two distinct experiences. While chickens provide social interaction and entertainment, eagles inspire awe and respect with their majesty and hunting prowess. Whether you prefer the charms of backyard chickens or the thrill of observing eagles in their natural habitat, both experiences can be rewarding and memorable.

These two types of birds have a message for human lives. As human beings, we have several opportunities to interact with different types of personalities. Some of them may be like chickens, willing to gather what is around them make themselves comfortable, and allow them to be led and controlled by others and situations. Some others may be like eagles ready to fly high and willing to take steps to soar high and reach the peaks. They grow and live majestically like the eagles.

We have the option to associate with either of the parties. When we associate with eagles, we become like eagles, and associate with chickens we become like chickens. Therefore, we need to associate with what we want to be in the future. We may find eagles and chickens among our friends or associates, in our workplace or worship place, secular community or religious community, even among those whom we consider as our best or lifelong friends, family members, or even those who live under the same roof. You become what you think and you become what you associate with. Make your mark and take your decisions diligently and leave your legacy for tomorrow!
